Message from the Chairman
Mulamoottil has come a long way since our humble traditional origin nearly 2 centuries ago. What started as a money lending business has now morphed into a financial services bouquet with our firms offering almost all products at our many locations.
When I took over from my father in 1983, we had a business in construction materials and a fledgling chit business. By 1998, our construction business had grown in multiples and we were adjudged the best retailer in India for many products, prominent among them being awarded the All-India best dealer for Nerolac 3 years in a row.
Our financial services business is now spread over 3 districts and encompasses nearly 200 branches in rural areas which is our primary focus. We take pride in delivering banking services to the unbanked rural communities. It is a mission we have willingly taken on and take great joy in.
Mulamoottil Financiers Ltd which received an NBFC license from RBI in 1994 is poised to launch our first batch of NCD public issue and expand to 250 branches. Mulamoottil Nidhi Ltd has been rendering yeoman service in the niche it has chosen for itself.
Mulamoottil Eye Hospital has carried on our family tradition in eye care and has made us proud by launching one revolutionary therapy after another. It is undoubtedly the finest eye care center in Kerala.
Mulamoottil Central School has been our first entry into the educational sector and has been very demanding and fulfilling at the same time. I believe that Education is a powerful step in our idea of Empowering the rural families. We have great plans in Education that will take wings over this decade.
Over the next few years, we are launching a retail venture that encompasses hypermarts, food courts, malls, drug stores and eye wear stores.
Looking back at the period from 1983, I feel we have accomplished a lot but more needs to be done. Our investors, customers and well-wishers are assured of an exciting future. We believe this company is poised for tremendous growth. Join us in this journey.
Jacob Thomas (Sunny Mulamoottil)
